Youth work

“Youth work” has developed over the years as an independent European field of work and research, with its own definition and clarification of terms. Youth work is by no means to be equated with German Jugendarbeit, but formulates a broader definition, which includes, for example, the field that is called Jugendsozialarbeit or youth social work in Germany (Thimmel 2018). This raises a number of questions for AeJP’s research, e.g. which concepts and institutional contexts shape youth work and which conditions influence its implementation and design both at the European level and in individual countries.
