DJI branch in Halle (Saale)

The projects of the “Youth Transitions” research unit and the “Youth and Youth Welfare Services” division are based at the DJI branch in Halle.

The branch was originally the ZIJ (Central Institute for Youth Research), which was integrated in the DJI in 1991. The former “Regional Office of the German Youth Institute” contributed fresh scientific approaches. The ZIJ was strongly oriented towards development psychology, having carried out longitudinal investigations which were unique in Germany at the time. The facility moved from Leipzig to Halle in 2003. The premises are now located in Building 12/13 of the Francke Foundations, which were refurbished to create a cultural, social and academic centre in Halle.
