Conception of the Empirical Project

Statement of the project's scientific bases and aims
The results of our studies and surveys on the state of young people's health in the EU show a broad range of health-related risks in this age group: (alcohol and drug influence in traffic accidents, injuries, psychological and psychosocial problems, suicide, malnutrition, obesity, unbalanced diet, lack of physical exercise, tobacco, alcohol and drug addiction). There is an apparent and urgent need for preventive action to reduce the health-related risks faced by young Europeans.
This study focuses on existing preventive measures in the 15 EU Member States to facilitate the systematic exchange of information concerning different types of preventive health projects, e.g. health-related information, behavioural and structural changes.

The survey aims at collecting data on the relative importance of health-related prevention projects (e.g. alignment, target groups, evaluation research). The information on health measures in EU Member States will include models of "good practice" which will be discussed in two workshops and distributed by the international cooperation partners in order to improve prevention programmes in all relevant areas.
