Evaluation of the Program
"Live Democracy!"

The German Youth Institute (Deutsches Jugendinstitut e.V.) in Halle (Saale) has been monitoring and evaluating federal government programs aimed at countering right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism since 2001. Currently, the second phase of the federal program "Live Democracy!" (from 2020 to 2024) is being evaluated. The scope of the program covers activities...

... at the level of municipalities,
... at the state level,
... at a nationwide level,
... as pilot projects in the three fields of action:

• promoting democracy
• shaping diversity and
• preventing extremism, including the thematic area "Prevention and De-radicalization in the German Penal System and the Probation Service"

In addition to the formative evaluation of the activities at the different levels and in the different fields of action, the federal program as a whole is also being evaluated.
