The project starts from the basic assumption that disadvantaged young people have acquired skills in non-formal and informal settings which are relevant for their vocational education and training yet cannot be used systematically because these skills are not evident.

- How can disadvantaged young people be made to better understand their competencies and learn how to use them for their vocational education and training?
- How can educators in schools gain a better understanding of the skills their pupils have acquired outside of the curriculum?
- How can educators be made to systematically use these competencies when preparing pupils for vocational training?
- How can disadvantaged young people gain better access to vocational training through work placement? – Up till now their grades have shown what they do not know, and on that basis they are unattractive both as vocational training candidates and as employees.
- How can the skilled personnel in training companies be facilitated to use these competencies in a systematic way?
